Newzip

Newzip is a 2021 Y-Combinator startup designed to fill a gap in the market for local experts offering professional advice.

Platform Components: • Consumer Portal: Designed to be user-friendly and intuitive, it allows users to easily search for and connect with local experts. It includes neighborhood search and discovery using maps for locating experts nearby. • Admin Portal: Provides robust tools for managing expert profiles and scheduling, streamlining the administrative processes for experts. • Mobile Apps: Offer a unique service of live video streaming by experts on demand, enabling users to receive professional advice in real-time without needing in-person meetings.

Technical Overview: • Frontend: Built with React and React Native, providing a consistent user experience across web and mobile platforms. • Backend: Developed using a custom framework built by us that includes data caching with Redis, authorization, and security with role-based access control, and separation of data and logic layers. GraphQL serves as the data endpoint for both web and mobile clients. • API Integrations: The platform integrates various APIs, including Google Maps API and Mapbox for mapping functionalities, as well as Google Location Search and Yelp for location-based services. Additionally, the mobile apps feature integration with Agora a video streaming service that we used for live tours.
